A fully engulfed structure fire at 84 Champion Road in Fruitvale Monday night, July 15, took crews nearly two hours to get under control.
A press release from the Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue Service (KBRFR) stated that firefighters from Trail, Montrose, and Fruitvale responded to the blaze after receiving reports of it just after 9 p.m.
Crews arrived on the scene at 9:20 p.m. and worked quickly to extinguish the blaze to prevent it from spreading to nearby structures and trees, after finding that it had spread to a nearby vehicle.
The blaze was deemed under control by 10:05 p.m. No one was home at the time of the fire, and no firefighters were injured.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
