Smokies add defenceman Jack Kennedy

The Trail Smoke Eaters continue their flurry of signings, adding defenceman Jack Kennedy to their roster.

Kennedy, 18, from Granby, Massachusetts is coming off a championship season with Avon Old Farms School, winning the Elite 8 title at the NESPAC (New England Preparatory School Athletic Council) Prep tournament.

He also played 18U AAA hockey with the Buffalo Regals, which finished second at the USA Hockey National Championships in San Jose this past March and Jack produced three points in six games at Nationals. Between the two teams Kennedy contributed 38 points in 58 games this season.

“Jack is a smooth, mobile puck moving defender,” assistant coach and scouting director Dallas Calvin said in a news release. “He brings a solid defensive game and has the ability to create offensively. We feel his game will translate well at the BCHL level.”

“Thank you to the Smoke Eaters coaching staff for the opportunity,” Kennedy said. “I’m very excited to be a part of this organization. I can’t wait to get going in Trail.”

His signing comes the same week that the Smokies announced that forwards Jack DesRuisseaux and Trip Pendy will join the team next season.
