Avalanche Canada is calling on back country skiers to stick to simple ,low angle terrain this weekend.
The Kootenay-Boundary is included in a public warning.
Avalanche forecaster Joe Lammers says the dry conditions earlier this month created a weak layer that’s now under lots of new snow.
They’ve already had reports of big grade-3 slides in the South Columbias.
Recreational skiers need to have a transceiver, probe and shovel every day. He says they need to know how to use them and check avalanche forecasts before heading out
