The most significant development in downtown Nelson for two decades is finally getting underway.
It’s been delayed a year but the $26 million Nelson Commons mixed use project is officially happening.
The Kootenay Co-Op – who are building the ambitious venture – have announced fencing goes up this week and the old Extra Foods site will be demolished early in the new year.
GM Deirdrie Lang says getting the 34-pre sales for the 54 residential units was key …and a major accomplishment.
A new large co-op store will go on the ground floor with three stories of housing above and one underground for parking.
It should all be finished the summer of 2016.
