Big grant pushes CP Rail Station reno closer to completion

The biggest grant yet from the Province’s job creation partnership could get Nelson’s ambitious CP rail station reno close to completion.

Chamber Executive Director Tom Thomson says the $176,000 offers exceptional value as they prepare for the last year of work on the heritage site at the end of Baker Street.

The aim is to move into the plus-hundred year old building next fall as a state-of-the art tourist centre.

Even if it is not fully finished Thomson says it will also house offices, a community board room and at last one tenant to start with.
