Brandt leads Nitehawks to victory in Cyclone opener

Forward Riley Brandt had three points for a passionate performance in the Beaver Valley Nite Hawks’ 4-1 win over the Aldergrove Kodiaks in the Cyclone Taylor Cup opener on Thursday.

It took Brandt just 12 seconds into the game to net his first of two goals.

Brandt was good friends with Nolan Handley who passed away after a car accident in Trail this week.

Handley was an AP for the Nelson Leafs and was honored during the tournament’s opening ceremony.

In the evening game,

The hosting Leafs lost 6-1 to the Victoria Cougars.

The Cougars have made it to the Cyclone Taylor’s gold medal match the last two years.
