Trail Historical Society buoyed by CBT grant offer

It’s a very, very significant grant from the Columbia Basin Trust for the proposed museum and library facility in the Silver City.

So says Trail Historical Society chair Jamie Forbes who is reacting to the news the CBT will provide $500,000 in funding if the Riverfront Centre is approved by residents in a November referendum.

The CBT grant sees the size of the loan needed come down and the maximum tax per average homeowner drop from $81 to $76.

Residents will vote next month on whether they want the city to borrow the now reduced $5.7 million dollars for the facility.
