Rural BC Project nearing action stage

A special dividend or royalty payment for BC’s rural communities is one of five key recommendations of the Rural BC Project.

The province’s three regions affected by the ravages of the pine beetle – including the southern interior – are pooling their efforts towards economic development.

Christina Lake’s Grace McGregor is chair of the steering committee and says rural BC needs to be compensated for all the natural resources we provide.

Concrete steps towards significant economic development should be ready later this year and McGregor says the government is serious about giving rural BC a voice and ensuring there is a rural lens on decision-making.
