Castlegar hires doctor recruiter

The City of Castlegar has hired a physician recruiter.

Mayor Lawrence Chernoff says they have to be proactive as many local doctors will be retiring soon.

Cheryl Gnyp will work to attract professionals to fill the expected voids.

 

Chernoff claims if a physician leaves your community that can result in 1,200 orphaned patients.

He says like other successful rural communities in B.C – Castlegar will try to recruit doctors by selling the lifestyle the area offers.
