Grand Forks city council has passed final reading of the bylaw to introduce water meters.
Mayor Brian Taylor says installation will begin right away although billing is still a long ways off.

The bylaw spells out penalties for things like stealing water or not having proper back flows.
Council adopted it despite some ongoing opposition from the community.
