Compensation concerns on Nelson council

With a new round of civic elections on the horizon are local councillors getting enough compensation?

It’s a question being asked by some around the table in Nelson.

Robin Cherbo isn’t happy to hear a proposal by the city to cut a $1,000 annual clothing and technology allowance by over 60%.

He says those newly elected people may need suits, computer equipment and cell phones related to being a councillor.

Nelson councillors get paid $15,000 a year and Cherbo questions if that’s enough given all the hours of work involved.
