The City of Castlegar has been asked to join the Regional District of Central Kootenay’s emergency program.
Supervisor Travis Abbey says the program is moving towards a more regional approach and they’d like Castlegar to be on board.
The program is planning to update its regional evacuation, communication and recovery plans.
Abbey estimates it would cost the city $35,000 a year to join.
