That long closure on Highway 31A east of New Denver Monday was because of a fatal motorbike crash.
Sergeant John Ferguson with West Kootenay Traffic Services says it happened soon after 9 am when the lone 50 year old rider went round a curve.
He says alcohol was not involved.
The name of the Alberta man has not yet been released.
Ferguson says we have great roads for motorbiking but is cautioning riders to slow down.
