Recycling changes irk Castlegar residents

Castlegar residents are missing the good old days when it comes to curbside recycling.

City Council once again brought up concerns being heard from the public with changes under the new Multi Material BC (MMBC) stewardship program.

Councillor Sue Heaton Sherstobitoff believes this will lead to people recycling less.

 

Before residents could include glass and plastic bags in their curbside pick up but neither is recognized under MMBC.

Sherstobitoff says they’ve had correspondence with the province and hopes it’s an issue at the annual Union of BC Municipalities convention in September.
