Slocan River recreation safety tips

A message from the RDCK for the public to be safe while enjoying the Slocan River.
It’s a very popular swimming and floating spot but there are some key things to be aware of.
John Dutton with Nelson Whitewater Rafting Company and Chair of Slocan River Watch says one of the most serious is “foot entrapment” .
Don’t put your feet down in moving water.
You should also keep your wits about you, avoid fallen trees and log jams … And know where you’re going to put in and take out along the river.
