Local armed robbery co-accused pleads not guilty

The co-accused in a rash of armed robberies in our region has pleaded not guilty.

26 year old Krista Kalmikoff of Salmo is facing a list of charges along with partner 33 year old Andrew Stevenson related to the armed robberies of the Nelson Credit Union and Kootenay Currency Exchange.

Charges related to other armed robberies may follow.

Kalmikoff’s lawyer Blair Suffredine says his client – who is out on bail – wants to get on with things.


It’s not yet clear if Kalmikoff and Stevenson will be tried together.

We asked Suffredine if he was trying to put as much distance between his client and Stevenson.


Stevenson’s lawyer wants more time to ponder the extensive evidence provided by Crown before his client is ready to enter a plea.
