Spill at Teck

Teck Trail Operations says there was no public health risk with regards to a spill yesterday.

A break in a line carrying run off water appears to be the cause.

That water, from a historic landfill area, contains metals and may have entered Stoney Creek.

Here’s Richard Deane, Manager Of Commercial Services And Public Affairs.

The spill lasted approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

This latest incident at Teck comes after last month’s hefty $3.4 million fine for a number of spills of various toxic substances into the Columbia River.
