RDCK services tax increase for Creston Valley

The cost of regional district services in the Creston Valley look to be on the rise this year.

The RDCK’s Chief Administrative Officer’s 2016 budget presentation was clear – taxes are going up.

Stuart Horn says it’s between 5 and 7 %, depending on where you live in the regional district.

The rough estimated tax increase is about $15 dollars for a property valued at $300, 000.

Horn points to shared costs for economic development, cemetery service and the Creston Valley Public Library parking lot project as the top reasons for the tax hike.

The 2016 budget is expected to be passed at next week’s RDCK board meeting.
