RCMP arrest border jumper

A highway patrol by Creston Valley RCMP led to an arrest under the Immigration Act.

The member was on routine patrol near Kingsgate Border Crossing on February 22, and stopped to check on a male who was hitch hiking .

An inquiry with border officials determined the man had not legally gone through the border from the US into Canada.

He was arrested and detained under the immigration act and RCMP say he did have outstanding warrants in the US.

The suspect was sent to the Cranbrook RCMP detachment to be held in custody until CBSA officials took over the case.
