Council donates to Creston Refugee Committee

Creston Council has agreed to a small financial contribution to the Creston Refugee Committee.

$250 will be allocated from the Town’s Discretionary Fund.

The committee had requested a $1000 commitment.

Here’s Councillor Jim Elford.

The group has brought almost 80 refugees to the area.

Council has advised the Refugee Committee to apply for a Community Initiative Grant through the RDCK and Columbia Basin Trust.

The group is actively trying to sponsor up to three Syrian families to move to the Creston Valley.
