Trail under grants pressure

Trail City Council is once again running into problems when it comes to its Community Grants budget.

Council is close to expending all of the $80,000 allocated for the entire year – after only seven months.

City Councillor Sandy Santori says he has a problem giving taxpayers money towards issues that should be supported by the province.

Santori says city staff should also look at what other communities of similar size hand out each year for community grants.

Trail spent over $97,000 last year in community grants – $9,000 over budget.
