Remains found after Hills house fire

Slocan Lake RCMP are confirming they have found the remains of a woman after a house fire north of New Denver.

Police responded to the blaze in the Hills area after midnight Sunday and the 44 year old homeowner was unaccounted for.

Investigators were back at the scene yesterday to gather more evidence.

Sergeant Darryl Little says they believe the woman may have re-entered the house to retrieve personal belongings after the fire started.

Little says the B.C. Coroners Service still has to positively identify the remains.

The house was completely destroyed by the fire and no foul play is suspected.
