AGLG finds serious financial issues with Rossland

The Auditor General for Local Government has found a list of serious financial issues with Rossland.

In her audit of two capital projects between 2010 and 2012, Basia Ruta found a lack of management controls and monitoring of procurement as well as conflict of interest concerns.

And she also points to some fundamental breaches in municipal procedures.

The AGLG says Rossland taxpayers didn’t get value for money from the Rossland Arena roof replacement.

And so lacking is the paperwork on the recent Columbia-Washington upgrades that she doesn’t know if there was value there.

She adds as of February this year, Rossland still had problems that expose taxpayers to substantial financial risk.
