Two arrested, stolen vehicle recovered near Slocan

Two people have been arrested and a stolen vehicle has been recovered near Slocan.

Slocan Lake RCMP say they were called Thursday around 3 p.m. about a suspicious vehicle near the Mulvey Creek bridge. Someone thought the vehicle may have been connected to recent property crimes in the area.

Officers responded and with help from Nelson RCMP, and RCMP air and dog services, they located the suspects on a logging road. The vehicle tried to avoid police, but was safely stopped.

Police said around 6:40 p.m., two people were arrested without further incident. A man from Nakusp remains in custody waiting for a bail hearing. The other person was released pending further investigation.

“This successful outcome was the result of coordinated efforts between frontline officers and specialized RCMP resources,” said Cpl. Brett Urano. “The quick response of officers helped bring this incident to a safe conclusion and recover a stolen vehicle.”
