Evacuation alert lifted for Inonoaklin Creek wildfire

The Regional District of Central Kootenay has rescinded an evacuation alert that was in place for residents near the Inonoaklin Creek wildfire.

The alert was issued July 28 and affected one property and nearby homes along Lightning Peak Road and Highway 6 in Electoral Area K.

The RDCK lifted the alert on the recommendation of the BC Wildfire Service after the threat from the Inonoaklin Creek wildfire decreased.

The wildfire was discovered July 25 and is believed to have been caused by lightning.

The regional district is reminding residents to remain prepared in case conditions change. Evacuation alerts or orders could be reissued if the wildfire threat increases.

Residents are encouraged to have an emergency kit ready and make plans to move pets and livestock to safety if necessary.

Information about Evacuation Orders and Alerts in the RDCK can be found on the RDCK website.
