Brent Heaven returns to Castlegar Rebels as assistant coach

The Castlegar Rebels are welcoming a familiar face behind the bench this upcoming season, with Brent Heaven returning to the club as assistant coach.

Heaven started his coaching career with the Rebels as an assistant back in 2005–06.

In a statement, the organization highlighted Heaven’s coaching resume, which includes leading Selkirk College to back-to-back BCIHL championships in 2015 and 2016. He was also named the 2019 BCIHL coach of the year and 2020 KIJHL divisional coach of the year.

Heaven has also worked in the BCHL as an assistant coach and director of player personnel for the Trail Smoke Eaters and has a background in driving elite youth and collegiate player advancement.

“Brent’s extensive 15-year career, combined with his sharp on-ice strategy, makes him an incredible asset to our players and organization as we push for success,” said the Rebels organization.

With the staffing change, the Rebels also announced the departure of assistant coach Ed Lindsey.

“Ed has poured his heart into this franchise, first making an impact on the ice as a player and most recently behind the bench as our assistant coach,” said the Rebels.

“We are incredibly grateful for his hard work, dedication and contributions to Rebels hockey, and we wish him the absolute very best as he moves on to new endeavours!”
