Salmo power expected to be restored by 8 p.m., Mayor says

Power in Salmo is now expected to be restored by 8 p.m. Saturday, according to an update from the mayor.

The mayor said FortisBC has revised its estimated restoration time as crews continue to repair extensive storm damage.

According to the update, FortisBC has brought in additional crews from Alberta to help speed up repairs.

Emergency calls

Residents who need assistance from police, ambulance or fire services should call 911, as the direct Salmo line is currently unavailable.

Officials are also asking residents to check on family members, friends and neighbours who may have medical conditions or limited mobility.

The municipality said storm damage remains significant and crews are working to restore service as quickly as possible.
