Drone survey to support future planning in Rossland

Residents may notice a specialized drone operating over parts of Rossland between June 1 and June 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on clear, sunny days.

The drone will collect LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) data to help the City better understand local terrain, ground elevations and tree canopies. The information will support infrastructure planning, asset management and future municipal projects, helping the City make informed decisions about roads, utilities, public spaces and environmental stewardship.

The survey is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to improve planning and service delivery for residents.

The equipment is not intended to capture detailed images of individuals.

The City appreciates residents’ awareness and co-operation while this work is underway.
