Local officials will monitor the first phase of teacher strike action before making any changes to the school day.
So says Kootenay Lake District Superintendent Jeff Jones with job action starting Wednesday.
He notes workloads of principals and vice-principals will be increased substantially with them taking over the supervision of students outside of scheduled class hours.
…Some other school districts are doing that and ending the school day early.
Apart from the student supervision issue teachers are also not attending any meetings with management.
Jones is concerned that hinders professional development and capacity building for teachers across the District.
