How will Teck job cuts affect Trail Operations?

It’s too early to say how much of Teck Resources’ total job cuts will come from Trail Operations.

This from local spokesman Richard Deane as the company says it needs to shed 600 jobs from its global workforce of 12,000 – that’s 5%.

We asked Deane if there had been talks with the union locals.

Teck has announced it is to re-open its Pend Oreille Zinc Mine just south of the border.

But Deane could not say what if any impact that might have on local zinc processing jobs.
