Is Complex expansion among rec plans in Castlegar?

Will the Castlegar and District Community Complex finally be expanded after problems at the Pioneer Arena?

The near 25 year old ice chiller at the Pioneer has broken down just as the Regional Recreation Commission is creating a Master plan.

Councillor Dan Rye says that could included a referendum asking residents if they want another sheet of ice at the complex as well as other upgrades.

In 2010 residents voted overwhelmingly against a proposed 25 million dollars worth of upgrades to the Complex.

In the meantime, Council has recommended the commission spend 120 thousand dollars to replace the chiller at the Pioneer that could be moved to another facility if needed in the future.
