Pacific Coastal Airlines is celebrating two decades of connecting the West Kootenay to communities across BC via Trail.
Monday marked exactly 20 years since Pacific Coastal’s first flight to Trail, a milestone celebrated this week by community leaders and airline representatives who gathered to recognize the importance of regional air connectivity.
In attendance were mayor Colleen Jones, and councillors Thea Hanson and Paul Butler, who serve as co-chairs of the Trail Airport advisory committee, and who welcomed Gustavo Zorzi, senior marketing and product development manager at Pacific Coastal Airlines, to commemorate the special occasion.
“We are delighted to celebrate this important milestone with Pacific Coastal Airlines,” said Hanson. “For 20 years, this service has played a vital role in connecting Trail residents to family, business opportunities, healthcare, and tourism destinations across British Columbia.”
Also in attendance was Erika Krest, executive director of the Trail and District Chamber of Commerce, who presented a plaque commemorating Pacific Coastal’s recent support of the Trail-Rossland BC Winter Games, recognizing the airline’s continued commitment to community events and regional partnerships.
Pacific Coastal also used the anniversary to thank the community that has supported the service over the past two decades. In a statement marking the occasion, the airline noted that every flight represents more than travel alone.
“Every flight represents more than just travel; it’s about connecting people, creating memories, and bringing communities closer together,” the airline said. “It has been our privilege to be part of your stories over the past two decades.”
Butler highlighted the broader community and economic significance of the service.
“Connectivity is critical to the growth and resilience of our community,” he said. “This service supports local business, tourism, and helps ensure Trail remains accessible within the broader provincial economy.”
