Avalanche risk closes portion of Highway 93

Highway 93 through Kootenay National Park is closed due to high avalanche risk in the area.

The highway is expected to reopen on Mar. 21 at 12 p.m.

Drivers will need to use an alternate route.

Highway 1 is also currently closed between Golden and Revelstoke for avalanche control work.

The highway is supposed to re-open at 8 p.m. PDT.

If you’re heading west, you’ll have to go down and use Highway 3 or wait out the closure.
