Trial date set for accused in Beaver Valley arena fight

A 57-year-old Grand Forks man accused of aggravated assault heads to trial in less than two months.

Glenn Holbrook was charged several weeks after a 47-year-old Fruitvale man was seriously injured during a fight last spring at Beaver Valley Arena.

RCMP say the victim was thrown down violently when a verbal dispute over the blowing of an air horn became physical.

The incident happened during a KIJHL playoff game between the Nitehawks and Grand Forks Border Bruins.

RCMP released a photo during their investigation hoping to identify the suspect.

Holbrook later turned himself into police.

Rossland court officials confirmed the opening day of the trial for March 3 before wrapping up last Thursday’s pretrial hearing.
