Trail’s Fifth Avenue hill closed for sewer main replacement

The top of Fifth Avenue Hill in Trail is closed to vehicles now until the end of October as the city advances its Bowser Street sewer main replacement project.

Emergency access will be maintained for residents along Sixth Avenue Lane, and pedestrian traffic will be accommodated when safe.

Work will occur Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. No work is scheduled on Sundays or statutory holidays unless otherwise approved.

Residents will be notified in advance of any water service interruptions, which the city said will be limited to a maximum of eight hours and scheduled between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays.

The project addresses a section of aging sewer main that has reached the end of its life.

Crews will replace approximately 38 metres of sanitary pipe, install two new concrete manholes and restore road, sidewalk and boulevard surfaces to meet modern standards.
