Awaiting identification after body pulled from Columbia River

RCMP have yet to confirm whether a body found in the Columbia River near the Trail Airport Friday may be that of missing Elena Popoff.

Silver City Mounties and Search and Rescue recovered a woman’s body on Friday just before 7pm.

The Coroner’s Service is awaiting identification.

64 year old Elena William Popoff of Slocan Park was reported missing earlier Friday – and she was last seen Tuesday in the Trail area.

She is caucasian, 5-foot-5, 135 pounds – with brown hair, brown eyes and glasses.

Popoff was driving a Gray Nissan Pathfinder with license plate: 210TMD
