Drug alert issued for Trail after 5 poisonings in one day

A drug alert has been issued for Trail following at least five non-fatal drug poisonings in one day.

Interior Health says the overdoses were confirmed by the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital emergency department and other sources. Five in one day is high for Trail.

“It may be related to a green substance circulating and that is being testing, but cause is not confirmed as there may be other substances circulating,” Interior Health said.

Residents are being urged to not use alone, carry naloxone, and know how to use it. Be aware of risks if mixing with other drugs, including alcohol.

The alert will remain in effect until Sept. 4. For more information visit Interior Health.
