Quick action suppresses dumpster fire in Trail

A dumpster fire in Trail today, July 30, could have become a significant incident were it not for the early alert by witnesses and the rapid response from the Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, said Acting Captain, David Como.

It took emergency services just two minutes to respond to the call, where a dumpster was alight, located directly beneath a large wooden fire escape at the rear of a building.

Como said that had the flames reached the wood, the outcome could have been far more
serious.

“Both witnesses and building security footage confirmed that an individual intentionally set the fire.”

The investigation is ongoing.
