A convicted child sex offender with a long criminal history arrested in Castlegar last summer has plead guilty to a pair of charges.
Danny Depew admitted to the internet luring of a child under 16 and making sexually explicit material available to someone under 16 years of age.
The 57-year-old plead guilty to both charges Wed in Castlegar Provincial Court.
The BC Prosecution Service says the incidents happened in the city on Aug 3, 2024.
Depew’s criminal history includes a 2020 conviction in Abbotsford for attempting lure a child under 16 with an on line communication.
He was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison followed by three years probation.
Depew got a 5.5 year prison term for sexual assault and sexual exploitation of three teenage girls and was accused of sexually exploiting a disabled person in another case.
The judge has ordered a psychological assessment as part of a pre-sentence report before Depew’s next court appearance in Castlegar on Aug 27.
He remains in custody.
