Kendrick and Sookro first team all stars

Trail Smoke Eaters goaltender Teagan Kendrick has left his mark on the franchise.

The 21-year is the franchise leader in victories, the team’s MVP for 2024-25 and a candidate for BCHL goaltender of the year.

The Edmonton area puck-stopper is also a BCHL First Team All Star.

Kendrick was 23-8-3-1, with one shutout, a 2.69 GAA and .915 SP during the regular season, while posting a 2.36 GAA and .922 SP in six playoff games.

He starts an NCAA Division-1 career next fall with Sacred Heart University.

Meanwhile, defenseman Bryce Sookro is also a first team all star.

The 20-year-old Cranbrook Bucks blueliner was the top scoring defenseman in the BCHL with 56 points including 13 goals.

The Nelson native was instrumental in leading the Bucks to a six-game playoff victory over the Smoke Eaters in the first round of the playoffs.

Sookro, who is a finalist for top defenseman in the BCHL, is heading to Clarkson University in the fall.

Smoke Eaters defenseman Lucas Lemieux has made the BCHL’s Second All Star Team.

The 19-year-old led all BCHL rearguards with four game winning goals among his 13 tallies and was fourth in scoring among BCHL blueliners with 46 points.

Lemieux is expected to report to RPI next fall for his first season of NCAA Division-1 hockey.
