The Forest Practices Board says the risk of flooding or landslides resulting from logging activity above Six Mile on the West Arm North Shore is low.
The independent forestry watchdog accepts the opinion of geo-scientists regarding work in three cut blocks that Kalesnikoff has now completed in the Duhamel Creek area.
A resident filed a complaint to the Board which has now concluded the logging is, “unlikely to increase existing risks at Duhamel Creek.”
The watershed has a history of natural flooding and slides.
Kalesnikoff’s Woodlands Manager Tyler Hodgkinson says they’ve always maintained the risks were low.
Hodgkinson adds Kalesnikoff completely supports the Board’s recommenDation that the Province and Regional District come up with a local planning process that could mitigate any potential risks in the Duhamel fan.
