Special weather advisory issued for Kootenay Pass

Drivers are being urged to take it slow and drive to conditions with a special weather warning in effect for the Kootenay Pass as of today, Friday March 21.

In a statement from Environment Canada, Highway 3 (Crowsnest Highway) from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass is expecting significant snow accumulation throughout the day and overnight.

Snow-covered roads, mixed with potential ice and slush depending on temperatures, can result in hazardous driving conditions.

Travellers who plan on taking the highway pass are urged to drive cautiously and check drivebc.ca before hitting the road, and be mindful of avalanche control.
