Hilarious Hot Flash comedy show puts the funny in women’s issues

Trail Arts Council presents the hilarious “Hot Flash” comedy tour on Friday, March 7 at 7:30 pm at The Bailey Theatre.

The show that puts the funny in women’s issues to celebrate International Women’s Day weekend.

Headliner Syd Bosel is a stand-up comedian who spins hilarious and relatable tales of “adult” children, being married for 1,000 years, surviving breast cancer, and other glories of nature. With loads of accolades Syd was voted “Best of the Fest” at the Nanaimo Fringe Festival in 2023 and got “four yesses” in CTV’s Canada’s Got Talent. You’ve probably heard her on CBC’s “Just for Laughs” and “Laugh Out Loud.”

Syd placed 1st, and was voted Fan Favourite, in the 2018 “BC’s Funniest New Female Comic” and was a finalist in the 2019 “Great Canadian Yuk Off”. Then, in 2022, Syd placed 2nd (out of 65 comics) in Vancouver’s “Funniest Person with a Day Job” competition. She is also a regular on the Jest Ladies and “Life is Funny” troupes and Jokers Canada.

Syd has opened for Debra DiGiovanni, Maria Bamford, Simon King and Julie Kim.

Audience reviews of Syd’s shows include “That older lady was really funny” and “My wife laughed so much that she peed her pants”.

Helen Schneiderman opens for Syd sharing the good, the bad and the ugly to get you laughing. Helen got into stand-up comedy a few years ago as a way to get off her couch. Now she’s so busy performing, her couch misses her.

Helen’s comedy draws from her varied life experiences and trips around the globe. She was runner-up in the 2019 BC Funniest New Female Comic contest and was the opening comic for the 2020 “I Am Woman Hear Me Laff” tour and 2022 Chutzpah Festival.

Opening the night is Nelson-based Michelle Hart, a two-time recipient of the Pat & Tony Freedom Fund, Outstanding Sketch/Improv Productions from My Entertainment Weekly, and was featured on “JFL42 Sirius FX Just For Laughs Festival”. She has worked as a cast member for MSC Seaside, The Second City, and Bad Dog Theatre Feature Players. Michelle has opened for Julie Kim, Jane Staton and now can’t wait to open for Sydney Bosel.

Enjoy a night of laughter with these fabulous female comedians! And bring your male friends too – everyone is welcome.

Plus, enjoy a drink at the ar including our signature cocktail the Hot Flash Extinguisher – Bubbly, Pomegranate with a dash of ginger ale in a flute.
