Police seek witnesses to motor vehicle incident that claimed Trail women’s life

BC RCMP is seeking witnesses or video footage to assist with their investigation of a motor vehicle incident last month, that claimed the life of 38-year-old Fruitvale woman, Laura Morrison.

On January 9, shortly before midnight, Morrison reportedly fell from the front passenger side of a moving pickup truck, a 2023 white Ford F-150, on Old Rossland Avenue in Trail and sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.

A male from the pickup truck was observed at scene, prior to driving away.

Morrison was taken to hospital for treatment, however, she later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver is known to Laura and “MCU investigators are looking to confirm the circumstances leading up to the Laura’s death and to determine whether there was any criminality involved, said Insp. Brent Novakoski, of the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit.

“If you have any information or video of the event, please contact the RCMP.”

Anyone with information who has yet to speak with police, or anyone with in-car video or CCTV of Rossland Avenue from that evening between 3:00 p.m. and midnight, is asked to contact the Southeast District Major Crime Unit’s information line at 1-877-987-8477.
