Castlegar Rebel this week’s Young Guns selection

Brayden Rotach, a rookie standout for the Castlegar Rebels, has earned this week’s  KIJHL Young Guns selection with a stellar performance that saw him collect three goals and three assists in three games.

The Castlegar native contributed the offence in an 8-2 loss against the Grand Forks Border Bruins on Jan. 7, notching a goal and an assist. Rotach had his highest offensive performance on Jan. 10, delivering two goals and four points to push the Rebels to a 5-4 victory over the Spokane Braves.

“I was moving my feet and creating space on the ice, which opened up opportunities for me and my linemates,” said Rotach. “Since Christmas, I’ve really worked on getting to the net and putting pucks on net and it finally worked out.”

Rotach is currently second on the Rebels in scoring with 22 points in 19 games and leads the team in points-per-game at an impressive 1.16. During a recent 10-game point streak, he produced 16 points.

Rotach played for Team KIJHL in the BCHC Prospects Game in November.
