Overflow passengers now allowed to board Kootenay Lake Ferry

The BC Labour Board has ruled to allow overflow passengers on the Kootenay Lake Ferry as job action continues to impact the ferry’s services.

This means that once all passengers who meet the Essential Service Order criteria have boarded, additional passengers can board on a first-come, first-served basis, according to a press release from Kootenay-Central MLA Brittny Anderson.

The ferry will also operate limited sailings on weekends.

The changes came into effect on Thursday, November 28.

“I understand how difficult this situation has been for the East Shore community, and I’m really grateful to everyone who has taken the time to call and write to my office. We know this situation is challenging and encourage everyone to be kind,” said Anderson.
