Trail holds off on large budget cuts

Good news despite Trail’s Public Works and Parks and Recreation departments making a combined $500,000 worth of cuts.

Council says that belt-tightening is no longer necessary after initially facing challenges funding the 2014 capital program.

After finalizing 2013 expenditures they are now saying all initiatives are back on the table.

Public Works Manager Larry Abenante is pleased because he says it was a big chunk of money to lose.

The only project that will not go ahead as first planned is a 100 thousand dollar East End Gateway feature part of the downtown upgrades.
