Fire in downtown Castlegar causes $30,000 worth of damage

A structure fire in downtown Castlegar on Friday, November 15, has caused approximately $30,000 of damage according to the Castlegar Fire Department (CFD).

CFD says crews were called to the scene of a structure fire on the 300 block of 4th Avenue Friday evening.

When crews arrived, they found a fully involved shed fire behind a property. The fire was being actioned by a member of the public using a garden hose.

The fire extended to an adjacent fence and shed of a neighbouring property. In total, three sheds were impacted, along with a fence and a covered area.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation; however, it is not considered suspicious or criminal in nature.

No injuries were reported, and both properties appear to have insurance.

In all, 11 CFD members responded to the incident, utilizing Command 1, Rescue 1, and Engine 1.
