Fire causes significant damage to Columbia Gardens Winery tasting room

Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue have responded to a fire at the Columbia Gardens Winery in Trail, which has cause significant damage to the businesses tasting room on Saturday afternoon, August 31st.

Thirteen firefighters responded to a call at 9430 Station Road around 12:04 p.m.

Crews arrived on scene at 12:16 p.m. and had the blaze under control by 1:31 p.m.

“Upon arrival on the scene, the fire was already starting to spread to the surrounding vegetation,” said Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue Chief Dan Derby.

“Suppression efforts quickly contained the fire to the log structure, which included the vineyard tasting room.”

No one was in the structure at the time of the blaze.

KBRFR is investigation the fire, but it is not thought to be suspicious.
