On Sunday, August 18, at 3:24 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a report of single motor vehicle incident where a 42-year-old Warfield man and his passenger sustained injuries from the crash.

The vehicle was heavily damaged and the airbags deployed, with both occupants treated at the scene by BC EHS.

Speed and the driver’s condition and attentiveness were believed to be factors in the crash.

During the officer’s investigation, she located approximately 1.75 kilograms of a substance believed to be Cocaine, $1500, and cell phones inside the crashed vehicle.

The officer arrested the 42-year-old Warfield man for Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The man was released by the officer at scene.

He and his passenger were transported to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for additional medical treatment.

“Excellent work by our officer in this matter when seizing a significant quantity of drugs. The drugs are believed to be worth around $80,000.” says Sgt. Wicentowich.
